my approach

Nestled among Marin County's stunning coastline, rolling hills, and majestic redwoods, I specialize in natural light family and portrait photography that celebrates connection, authenticity, and the beauty of everyday moments.

I believe the most meaningful photographs happen between the poses—in spontaneous laughter, gentle embraces, playful interactions, and quiet moments of connection. Rather than focusing on perfectly posed portraits, I encourage families and individuals to engage naturally, creating space for genuine emotions and authentic expressions to unfold.

My approach is warm, patient, and connection-focused. I understand that every family, child, couple, and individual is different, and I strive to create a safe environment where everyone feels comfortable and at ease in front of the camera.

Families of children with disabilities, medical needs, or unique challenges are always welcome here. If that is part of your story, like mine, please know you don't need to explain or prepare your child to fit a mold. I will meet you exactly where you are, and together we will create something honest, comfortable, and true to your family.

The result is a collection of heartfelt images that preserve not only how you looked, but how you felt in that moment. From joyful laughter and tender hugs to the small details that make your family unique, I create photographs that tell your story with honesty and artistry capturing the fleeting moments that become treasured memories for years to come.

FAQ

How do I book a session?

If you don’t see a date and time that works for you on the scheduling page, please complete the contact form with your preferred dates and times, and I will get back to you within 24 hours.

When will I receive my photos?

Your carefully edited full-resolution downloadable images in jpg format will be delivered in a private online gallery within two weeks of your photography session.

Do you travel, and is there a travel/location fee?

I love exploring beautiful locations with my clients. Sessions within Marin County are included, while destinations farther away may require a travel fee to cover time and transportation. Any travel costs will be clearly communicated before your session is booked.

In the event that the chosen photography location charges a fee for photography on the premises, the client agrees to cover any associated location fees.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions are typically held at locations chosen with your vision in mind. I follow your lead based on the type of background and setting you’re hoping for, and I’m happy to provide curated suggestions tailored to the season, lighting, and time of day to help create the best possible results.

Do you offer mini sessions?

Limited-edition seasonal mini sessions are offered twice a year - in the spring and fall, with dates and locations announced in advance. Stay tuned!

what is your cancellation policy?

All session retainers are non-refundable, as they reserve your date and time. If you need to cancel, please note that retainer will be forfeited.

The remaining balance is due one week prior to your session and is non-refundable if the session is canceled within that time frame. This balance may be applied toward a one-time reschedule, subject to availability within the next three months.

In the case of inclement weather for outdoor sessions, we will work together to select a new date at no additional cost.

In the rare event that the photographer must cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, all payments made will be fully refunded or transferred to a new mutually agreed-upon date.

what should I wear?

I recommend choosing outfits that feel comfortable, timeless, and true to your family’s style. Soft, neutral, and earthy tones tend to photograph beautifully in natural settings like beaches, redwoods, and golden hills. Think warm whites, creams, taupes, muted greens, soft blues, and subtle textures rather than bold patterns or large logos.

Coordinating (rather than perfectly matching) outfits works best—aim for complementary colors and a cohesive feel across everyone in the family. Layers and textures such as knits, linen, and cotton add depth and photograph especially well in natural light.

Most importantly, choose clothing you can move and relax in so your session feels natural and effortless. If you’re unsure, I’m always happy to help you plan and refine outfit choices before your session.

What is the best time of day for a photoshoot?

The best time for outdoor photography is typically during the “golden hour,” which is the hour shortly after sunrise or the hour before sunset. During these times, the light is soft, warm, and flattering, creating beautiful natural tones and gentle shadows that are ideal for portraits.

That said, the ideal timing can vary depending on the location and weather. In wooded or forested areas, like Marin’s redwoods, sessions can be scheduled more flexibly since the tree cover naturally diffuses harsh light and creates soft, even tones throughout much of the day. Similarly, overcast days are actually excellent for photography, as cloud cover acts as a natural diffuser, resulting in soft, balanced light with no harsh shadows.

I’ll always recommend the best time for your specific location, season, and lighting conditions to ensure the most flattering results..

What is the pricing for additional professionally edited images?
  • $20 for one additional edited image
  • $80 for 5 additional edited images
  • $140 for 10 additional edited images
